Making a Complaint

There are a number of public bodies that deal with different types of complaint against the police service.  Please identify from the list below the nature of your complaint.

  1. Complaint about the conduct or behaviour of a Police Officer (of Chief Superintendent rank or below), or Police Staff.  
  2. Complaint about the conduct or behaviour of the Chief Constable, Deputy Chief Constable or Assistant Chief Constable.
  3. Any other complaint about Leicestershire Constabulary that is not about conduct or behaviour of individual officers or staff.
  4. Complaint about the conduct or behaviour of a Police Authority Member.
  5. Complaint about the conduct or behaviour of Police Authority staff.
  6. Any other complaint about Leicestershire Police Authority that is not about conduct or behaviour of individual members or staff.

2.  Complaint about the conduct or behaviour of the Chief Constable, Deputy Chief Constable or Assistant Chief Constable

Complaints of this type are dealt with by Leicestershire Constabulary's Professional Standards Department.  You can send your complaint to the Constabulary by clicking on this link.

4. Complaint about the conduct or behaviour of a Police Authority member

Leicestershire Police Authority's Standards Committee is responsible for dealing with complaints of member conduct.  The Committee contains two persons who are independent of the Police Authority, one of whom chairs the Committee.  In the first instance you should contact the Chief Executive of the Authority by

5. Complaint about the conduct or behaviour of Police Authority staff
