11th June 2010
Leicestershire Police Authority announced today (Friday, 11th June, 2010) that it has appointed Steph Morgan as Assistant Chief Constable of Leicestershire Constabulary.
The decision was made by the Police Authority's Appointments Committee following a two day interview process. Prior to her appointment Steph has been Chief Superintendent with Hampshire Police.
Congratulating her, the Vice-Chairman of the Police Authority, Barrie Roper, said the appointment had been made following a rigorous recruitment process where the calibre of all candidates was extremely high.
"We were clear that we were seeking someone with the right skills and experience to deal robustly with both crime and operational demand issues. In Steph we believe that we have found that person. She joins us as our new senior officer team takes shape and we are sure she will make a swift contribution.
"The Authority's overriding priority is to ensure the provision of a quality policing service for local communities and we are confident that today's appointment will, with the other members of the senior officer team, help us achieve this. I look forward to working with her in the future."
Steph Morgan said: "I am absolutely thrilled and very excited to be joining Leicestershire Constabulary which is a wonderful police force. It is the birthplace of Neighbourhood Policing with really strong ties between the force and the community and I am looking forward to being part of this."

Following a Force Restructure Steph was promoted to Chief Superintendent in April 2006 remaining on the Isle of Wight. She oversaw the change management required to deliver the governmental vision of Neighbourhood Policing.
